10 Web Site Design Mistakes that Reduce your Traffic from Google

When we talk about getting traffic from Google, most of us will know about Search Engine Optimization, or SEO or short. Most folks who have some knowledge about SEO will know that content and links are two primary factors that influence how much traffic your site can get from Google.  However, website design also plays an important role. Indeed, most forget that the codes which the website design are written in are also crawled and indexed by Google. If your code is not properly structure to maximize the SEO effects, you will missing out on potential a lot more traffic than you currently have.
Here are the 10 most common website design mistakes with regards to SEO.

Mistake 1: Too much Flash/Ajax effects

Some website designers tend to go overboard with Ajax or Flash to create lots of  effects. While they might interesting to view, they tend to:
  • slow down your website’s loading time, which is a factor in your Google ranking
  • reduce the amount of text that Google can index and therefore rank you for
So, if you like using these effects in your website design, don’t overdo it. Replace some of these effects with text and you will soon see a rise in your Google traffic.

Mistake 2: No labels for your images

Image search is now a huge source of traffic for many websites. These traffic is especially important for businesses who rely on images to sell such as restaurants, interior design, real estate etc. Hence, it is important for us to use a file name that uses the right keywords to describe the image. Don’t label them as picture1 etc. Use proper terms that people will search for such as Gourmet Hamburgers, Washington real estate, or bamboo flooring. By doing this simple change, you will see an increase in the traffic from Google image.

Mistake 3:  Too many sidebar links

One of the most important concept in SEO is pagerank or PR for short. PR determines how often Google crawls your website and how much content will be indexed. You cannot see PR but every website will have its own score. In terms of control we cannot hoardPR but we can channel them, using links, to the page where we want the most traffic. If your sidebar has too many links, you are effectively spreading your PR across too many web pages. This resultd in a large of pages that don’t get much search traffic, in contrast to a few strong pages that get lots of traffic.

Mistake 4: Keywords missing in navigation menu

Love it or hate it, SEO is about using the right keywords in your website. Most website designers don’t suggest good keywords in the navigaton menu, which is wasting another opportunity for the website to get more traffic related to these keywords. It is an art to choosing the right terms for your navigation. If you picked terms that are too competitive, the traffic from Google for these terms will be minimal. However, if you picked terms that have search volume but are not competitive, there is a chance for you to get more traffic from Google.
For example, if you create a website for a restaurant owner, using competitive keywords such as steak or hamburgers in the navigation menu might not lead to any increase in website traffic. However, if you used less competitive terms such as best burger new york etc, you will see more traffic from people searching for burgers in new york.

Mistake 5: Too little text

Google is a text machine, period. If your website design does not include sufficient space for lots of words to be included, you are missing your chance of getting more traffic from Google. I have seen some websites where there is literally no space for words. For example, portfolio wordpress themes tend to focus too much on the picture and have little space for words, especially on the homepage.

Mistake 6: Orphan your pages

I have seen some website design whereby it is almost impossible to locate a particular page because the website design has orphan the page by not linking it from any other pages. A common way of making this mistake is with a wordpress page. Unlike article posts, which tend to automatically appear on the front page of the blog section, a wordpress page will not be automatically linked to, unless there is a section in your website (such as your navigation) which automatically displays any new pages created. Once a page is orphaned, it will be difficult for Google to crawl and indexed that page.

Mistake 7: Flat architecture design

A flat architecture design means that all your links can be accessed via a central place like your home place. This runs into similar problems as mistake 3 i.e. too many links on one page. What your should do is to create navigational pages and then link to these pages through the homepage. Navigation pages are nothing more than a listing of all similar articles in one page. Such a solution is more elegant than trying to cramp every link into the homepage.

Mistake 8: Ineffective site description

Site description is the line of words that will appear beside your website in the search results. An ineffective copy will lead to less people wanting to click on that link and visit your website. I have seen cases where websites which are ranked second getting more traffic than websites ranking number one. This is simply because the site description of the number one site does not convey anything that draws people in.  When designing a website, pay attention to how you describe your site so that it is appealing for others to want to check it out.

Mistake 9:  Keyword stuff your pages

This is the opposite of mistake 4. Instead of using too little keywords, you keyword stuff your pages to the point where they appear everywhere i.e. navigation, sidebar, footer. Worst of all, your navigation links read like a spam list such as the example below
  • real estate in Washinton
  • real estate in New York City
  • real estate in Portland
  • real estate n XX city number
If you do this, there is a strong chance that the website will receive a penalty from Google that will reduce the amount of search traffic you will get from them.

Mistake 10: Updating your website design

This is a mistake made by many including myself. We tend to stick with the initial design because there is little incentive to change anything. However, it is important to note that as a site growing in both traffic and content, there is a need to update our website to improve its navigation and/or to update content and links. Failure to do so can result in Google giving your site a lower score.
For example, many sites that you were linking to in the past might no longer be around. Keeping these links alive is not only bad for your visitor’s experience, it is also bad for Google because their crawlers will end up with dead ends. If your website does this enough times, I believe the quality score of your website will be downgraded.

Many of the mistakes mentioned here can be removed with a little bit of effort. So, if you think your traffic from Google is not growing, go through this checklist to see if things can be improved.

One is required to promote the products of merchants or entrepreneurs and bag a handsome commission on each sale made at an attractive 20-70% depending upon the financial strength of the merchant. Superior quality products with strong brand presence, credibility and potential to deliver what is promised should be vigorously promoted through blogs, writing high quality articles, building a massive email list, participating in discussions on serious forums and writing product reviews. Low quality products should never be promoted through spamming and illegal blackhat techniques or one will face serious loss of reputation with fatal repercussions.

Make money selling ad spaces

Blogs dedicated to promoting high end products are sure to attract the attention and interest of marketers who would like serious audiences for their products on their sites. Selling banner ad spaces on blogs for a niche product with promise of diverting good amount of organic traffic will bring one a handsome chunk of income. The share of revenue will be comparably higher than Adsense as Ad networks sell the advertising space on blogs at about a whopping discount of 90% to marketers owing to profuse amount of selling space available with them. 5 Ways to get .EDU AND .GOV BACKLINKS for your Blog

Most people don't know how beneficial .GOV and .EDU backlinks can be, or whether they're useful at all for a website. It is easy to confuse their importance with that of other TLDs (Top Level Domains) such as .COM, .NET etc, and you'd figure that since .COMs are the most popular and the most expensive, ergo they're the most important. We'll, you'd be wrong to think that. A website's trust rating is far more important that what it cost to set it up. And as you can imagine, .GOV and .EDU top level domains enjoy a special level of trust which is regarded very highly by search providers such as Google, Bing and Yahoo. And backlinks from such domains can take your website's rank to another level. Here are some best techniques to get .GOV and .EDU backlinks for your site.

1. In the Comments

One of the many ways you can build backlinks is by commenting on other blogs. There's nothing quite like it when you get the conversation going. To start off creating a .gov and .edu backlink profile or your blog, start finding such blogs to comment on. A great website that'll help you do that is Drop My Link. You can search for blogs based on the desired keyword. But more importantly, you can select the type of blogs you want to see from the drop-down list. From there, you can choose .edu or .gov blogs, and get the relevant blogs based on your keyword!
Drop My Link
You can then filter out your results. Go for blogs with a high PR first, because commenting takes time, and you don't want to waste time on low ranking blogs.

2. Recognize .edu bloggers

Aside from comments, getting a proper dofollow backlink from .edu and .gov blogs can be very difficult. One strategy is to feature some such bloggers in a post of yours, so that they'll link back to you in return out of gratification. For example, you could create a list of 'the best university bloggers', or 'the best students blogs in the U.S' etc. Small recognition awards like these are sure to get attention, and hopefully a backlink.

To find such blogs, here's a Google Search trick. If you search Google for <site:.edu> (without the angled brackets), you will run a search for all domains with a .edu extension. You can also search a specific site using this method <site:yoursite.com>. If you search Google for <inurl:blog> (again, without the brackets), you will land all webpages with the term "blog" in their url. You can combine the two to run a search for .edu blogs - <site:.edu inurl:blog>. Moreover, you can add individual search terms within quotes to refine your results according to keywords <site:.edu inurl:blog "technology news">. This way, you can feature 'top university technology blogs'

3. Find resource pages

If your website provides useful information on a particular subject, then you may use that to get inside a university's resource page. Resource pages are there for linking out to other sites where students can find useful information regarding a particular subject. So if you are a computer guru and know your way around Linux development for example, you could contact computing institutes' web team to put out a backlink to you.

You can use the same search trick you used earlier to find resource pages. For example, run a search for <site:.edu inurl:resources "technology"> or <site:.edu inurl:links "Linux"> (without brackets), and you'll find out plenty of universities you could contact.

4. Do some volunteer work

I mean not like charity work. But you can help some university web team design or improve a component on their website in return for a backlink. Now this, of course, requires you to have some web development skills, but you can hire a freelancer to do the job for you too.

All you have to do is, find a university or college site, and look through it if it looks poorly made. Not every university has a full time web design team. Often times, they only intend to give out valuable information, without caring much about how their webpages look. For example, I was recently reading about some research proceedings about a new type of lens technology in cameras at a university, and I couldn't help but notice the colourless, bland design. Now the webpage itself had a very high traffic and the university was very reputable. But in all fairness, researchers working behind the new camera technology most probably wouldn't know about web design, which makes it the perfect opportunity for people to contact them, and offer to redo their design in return for a backlinl. Such researchers wouldn't even care about the backlink, as long as they're getting a better design.

5. Hire college students

Now I know this one is unconventional, but hey, so long as it works! In some colleges and universities, students have access to .edu domains, where they are allowed sub-domains of their own. You can set someone up to create a student blog for their college, and then link back to your own website.

There are many ways you could hire a student to do your bidding. You can use the Reddit ForHire section to post your gig. You can also post a classified on Craigslsit. Or, you could always go to one of the many freelancing websites available, where you can post a job.

So, did you like these tips, or would like to add something to them? Feel free to jump on into the comments section below. Cheers :)

Top Millionaire Companies that Were Blogs

Ever wondered where your blog can take you? Many bloggers aim to make money from their blogs. A few aspire to become probloggers, earning six or even seven figures. Fewer still go on to build a full-blown business behind their blogs that make them millions! A couple months ago, I argued that making big money from blogs now is very difficult, nigh on impossible. But not if you do it the way some of the guys in the list below have! Here are a few multi-million dollar companies that were born as ordinary blogs!

1. CopyBlogger.com

Most of you might know about CopyBlogger.com. It is owned by CopyBlogger Media, the parent company for a number of online services and properties including StudioPress, Scribe, Synthesis, Premise, and more! If you're a WordPress user, you should know about StudioPress, creators of one of the most popular WordPress framework - Genesis, and various WordPress themes.
The company was originally started by Brian Clark, who was once an attorney. But he transitioned over, and decided that writing was more to his liking than practicing law.
Before starting CopyBlogger.com in 2006, Brian Clark was an attorney.
“I hated practicing law and I was fascinated by the Internet. The transition was extreme I suppose, but I always had a thing for writing, so I started creating online content over a decade ago. Now it’s just part of me.”
For four years, Brian and crew pumped out post after post, several times per week with a smattering of guest posts in between. With a network of other projects and partnerships brewing, Brian brought them together in 2010 to create Copyblogger Media:
“Over the last 4 years, I’ve launched several companies from this simple blog of mine. The idea that building an audience with content and letting the revenue-generating ideas, products, and services reveal themselves based on what the audience actually wants has worked out amazingly well.”
One reason CopyBlogger.com does so well to attract an audience is that everything on the site is totally free. Despite one million monthly page views, CopyBlogger.com doesn’t make a dime. Instead, all of their revenue-generating platforms exist on other domains and they use CopyBlogger to make people aware of them.

2. SitePoint.com

SitePoint.com, a blog owned by Matt Mickiewicz, gave birth to the design company 99designs. It started when designers in the SitePoint community started challenging each other to create the best designs. Eventually, others in the community joined up, and started offering cash rewards for work on real projects. Hence, an idea for a design company was born.
Now, 99designs is a 64-person company, and is the world's largest online marketplace for outsourcing graphic design. It has paid out over $38 million to its users.
One of the under-used benefits of having a blog is having direct access to a specific group of people. If you ask them and observe their interactions, you’ll find out what they want and what they’re willing to pay for. Then, when you launch, you’ll already have an engaged audience.

3. QuickSprout.com

Many of us know Neil Patel and his wonderful in-depth articles on QuickSprout! He published his first blog post in April 2007. At that time, he was working on his startup, Crazy Egg, and also working on an internet marketing agency to cover up for the losses he was facing on his startup. Combining his knowledge and experience from these and a few other projects, Patel came up with a new analytics company, KISSmetrics.
“With our new found knowledge, we decided to create another analytics company that would solve a much larger problem than what Crazy Egg solved. Crazy Egg was doing well, but it is never going to be that 100 million dollar company because the market size for that one product is very limited.
Neil made a small fortune through his marketing consultancy business, but he didn't like the work. So he started working in the software business instead, which he liked, and excelled at it. This goes on to show what you can achieve if you're passionate about something.
Why did I relate blogging to large online companies? Well, as Neil himself says, you can get the most return on investment via blogging - no other business comes close. So if you're thinking about creating the next big thing, consider starting off as a blog, and then build a solid readership which will then feed traffic for your new startup, giving it a jump start. This perhaps is the secret to how these companies became so successful.

How To Get Content Ideas For Your Blog?

Brainstorming for content ideas can be tough. You easily get distracted and everything seems to have already been written! To make matters worse, requirements to content concepts and titles have become much more complicated. With the growing importance of referral traffic, we now have to rethink title strategies and how they appear on social sites. If you're feeling strapped for content ideas, here are a few that can help.

Check your Comments Section

When you let people share and comment on your site, you could end up with some great blog post ideas. Your readers might ask for more information about a specific item you didn’t cover clearly in your first post, or they might share their own opinions about the topic, which could make your fingers itch to write. Reading those bits carefully could make your blogging much easier.

Check out your Competition

According to 2014 stats, more than half of all small businesses don’t have a website. As a result, your top competitor may not have a blog that you can follow. But that same competitor might be active on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook. The posts you find there could give you great ideas about topics you should cover.
If you grab an idea from someone else, be sure to tweak it or amend it or somehow make it your own. Stealing outright could get you in hot water, both with your competitors and with Google. But borrowing a good idea could help you to come up with the story idea that’s been eluding you.

Yelp Pages

People with reputation management problems are likely accustomed to the idea of using Yelp as an early warning system. When they see a poor review pop up, they know they must get to work generating content that either refutes or explains the complaint. But Yelp can also help you write blog posts about issues people either like or have questions about.
Read through your reviews and look for items that get a lot of mentions. Not all Yelp comments will contain blog gems, of course. Some might just contain complaints or random bits of praise you can’t build on. But, watching the comments closely could give you some great ideas for writing that will really resonate.

Targeted Keyword Research

And ofcourse, nothing beats good ol' fashioned keyword research. This is a fundamental part of the writing process, as it helps you find the right terms which will perform better on SERPs. But more than SEO, your searches can also help you to find out what people are looking for, and that could give you some excellent blog post ideas.
With Google AdWords‘ Keyword Planner, you can run a simple search on a topic you’re planning to cover. Your results page will give you keywords that are similar to the topic you’ve hit, but they come with just a few changes.
We'll soon publish an entire section dedicated to keyword research in the SEO process, so stay tuned!
Coming up with new content ideas is not easy. But if poke around and are receptive enough, with enough luck you will soon find great content ideas to go on your blog! Good luck :)

How To Make Your Content Last Longer ?

A typical article or blog post goes through various stages in its life - from the time it is born and gets direct traffic to the time it eventually recedes into the background, only to be found by search engines (organic traffic), until it finally is no longer relevant to the current age and must be replaced. They are now just litter on the internet. But they don't necessarily have to be that way. The hard work you put into creating them can be saved by doing just some small extra effort.

Content that is typically written for users only tends to wear out quickly. The whole idea of making content last is to make it accessible to search engines, and bullet-proof it against future search engine updates like Panda or Penguin. Content here doesn't just refer to articles. It can in the form of info-graphics or videos as well.
The most important ingredients of making evergreen content are relevance and quality. Here are some techniques you can use to make the most of your pages.

Date the content

Some content is date-relevant, and some is not. It is generally advised to show the date of an article so as to avoid raising certain question in the users' minds, such as whether or not the content is relevant to the user right now?
Take, for example, and example topic; 'top 10 smartphones'. Topics like these get outdated real fast, so a user will probably look at the date first before reading on. Showing the date is a plus in such circumstances.
On the other hand, you might have a how-to tutorial that is a year old, but is still relevant. It is inadvisable to show the date in such conditions. Most bloggers use the date in the URL structure. In such cases, users are likely to navigate away when they see a very old date. So in my opinion, you shouldn't incorporate the date into your URL structure. Instead, just show the date alongside the heading. If your content is not date-centric, then do not highlight it. But at the same time make sure your content (how-tos etc) are up to date.

Update your content regularly

Having an evergreen piece of content doesn’t mean that you never touch it again. Even evergreen pieces need an occasional spritz to keep them fresh.
Google’s “freshness factor” prefers pages that are updated frequently. To keep your content active in the index and the SERPs, touch it up now and then. The more content you change or move, the greater the freshness of the article in the search engines.

Highlight the updates in content

Some content deals with subjects that are constantly changing. In this case, you can change your content, too. Simply adjust the content according to the changed subject, and place a note at the top of the article.
Here’s what you can write:
  • Provide a link to a new article. If your content is truly outdated and can’t simply be spruced up, then you should add a section at the top that explains this.
  • At the top of the page, add a section stating that the information below has changed, then provide a link to a new page.

If Google is still favoring an old article in the SERPs, this is essential. When a user clicks on that result, an old piece of content, you don’t want him or her to bounce. Instead, you can drive engagement and further dwell time with an open admission of the dated content, with a link to updated information.
What techniques do you apply to your content? And what is your opinion on displaying the date in the URL of a page to highlight it? Leave your comments in the section below!

How To Make Money with the Blog

There was a time when a blog was something only super-nerds maintained. Getting online was tough, expensive and had not much real returns for the average Joe.
The last decade has changed all of that. We’ve seen the internet go from being a curiosity to a necessity. Communication methods that we never imagined could exist are now integral parts of our lives.

Most importantly, the internet has become a place where new ventures can achieve multi-billion dollar statures in a matter of months – something that most definitely was not the case a decade ago.
Here are six strategies for you to pick from and get started on building your own empire.

Sell Stuff

What if you don’t want to turn your blog into a cluttered, ugly (or subtle) ad-addled site? You can still make tons of money without defacing your precious labor of love. Instead of promoting others’ businesses, sell your own stuff on your blog. The variety of things you could offer up for sale is truly limited only by your imagination and abilities. From ebooks to whitepapers to PowerPoint templates to website themes to good old real world products; there’s nothing ecommerce cannot help you sell. All you need is a simple shopping cart plugin like Shopify’s – no matter what CMS or framework your site is built on, whether it’s Weebly, Wix, or something else – and you’re in business in minutes!

 Promote Affiliate Products

Affiliate marketing is similar to direct ads on your blog, but not really the same thing. You see, instead of selling ad space on your blog, here you’ll be creating content about the brands that want to promote themselves and post these promotional posts on your blog.

Bloggers with a decent readership and a sizeable number of visitors per day are good bets to venture into affiliate marketing. This is because, unless your audience already trusts you and what you have to say, they’ll never consider the product or service you’re peddling seriously.

When they do consider it, click on to the affiliate merchant’s link and actually make a purchase during that visit, you stand to get a pre-decided commission on every such sale. Commissions can range from 10 to 30% of the sticker price of the product you helped sell. Rakuten and ShareASale are examples of affiliate networks you can pick from to promote brands on your blog.

Run PPC Ads

Advertising is the easiest and quickest way to monetize a blog. Not every blog will earn thousands of dollars in ad revenue per month, but even a small start is a step in the right direction. You can pick from a variety of ad formats – text link ads, display ads or even paid content ads. Each time a visitor on your site clicks on one of these ad types, you end up earning a small fee. This fee varies among various ad networks and how much you can earn is largely a variable of the size of your blog’s traffic and the genre of content you create on it. Mahesh Mohan offers a very interesting calculation of how a blog needs at least 100,000 page views to make $100,000 a year from Google Ad Sense.

Offer Consulting Services

A blog typically is a place where you share not just your thoughts, but also some of your expertise with the world at large. So how about making some money from this expertise via your blog, instead of doling everything out for free?
A large number of bloggers have built successful consulting businesses out of their blogging success. Most rockstar bloggers like Ramit Sethi and Marcus Sheridan offer their marketing smarts out on hire and charge their clients a pretty penny for their expert advice. The best part? You can promote your budding consultancy business via your own blog. Make money and save money at the same time!

Do Paid Speaking

Just as consultancy is a great option to bring in some extra cash from your blog, offering your services as a guest speaker is another awesome opportunity. Mind you, this is not for someone who blogs to vent their anger at the system or to keep a log of their daily innermost thoughts. You really need to have something valuable to offer your potential audience to even consider paid speaking as a means of making money.
Sign up for event and conference updates on sites like AllConferences, which will keep you posted on the latest industry specific events in your area. Trade associations in your industry niche, public service organizations, colleges and universities are all fertile grounds for a potential speaking paid gig. Use your blog to first establish your credentials as a thought leader and then approach the right conferences that match your skill sets with the offer of providing them with your services as a speaker.

Ads in Your Email Newsletters & RSS Feeds

Nearly every serious blog has its own mailing list and RSS feed. Actually, if you don’t have one yet, start building one today.
A captive audience like a newsletter or RSS subscriber base is an extremely valuable asset that can be monetized through judiciously placed ads in your weekly or monthly newsletters. These can be negotiated along with the banner or text ads on your blog home page and can advertise brands that operate in the same industry area as your blog content. This will make sure that the ads don’t stick out like sore thumbs in your content and that your subscribers find value in the ads you publish. A targeted ad network service like LaunchBit is a good option to kick start the monetization of your blog’s newsletter database.

Summary

To be fair, not every new startup enters the stratospheric heights that an Uber or an AirBnB have managed. However, the fact remains that it has never been easier to make money from nearly zero investments as it is today. Why even a humble personal blog has the potential to earn you millions of dollars in revenue with the right strategy. Our very own Ammar isn’t doing too bad for himself either! :)

6 Steps to Your Blogging Success

Starting a blog is easy, making a success of it, however, is not. Every day, thousands of people launch blogs, which means that the competition is fierce. Every blogger dreams of starting a blog and it instantly becoming one of the world’s most popular sites. Sadly, however, for most of us, that’s just a pipe dream.
The good news is that while you won’t launch a blog and become an overnight sensation, what you can do is ensure that your blog’s a success. You might not ever reach a million followers, but you can still create a blog that people follow. To help you to do that, we’ve put together a guide to six steps for blogging success. Take note of these, and you can make your blog everything that you want it to be.

1:- Your blog design should stand out

Without a doubt, one of the most important elements for blog success is a good layout. The main mistake that new bloggers make is picking a ready made blog design. Instead of opting to create a unique one. The reason you should always create your own design is because people are drawn to blogs that are different.
When it comes to setting up a blog, your number one priority should always be the design. The name and domain you opt for are crucial, but the style and layout are twice as important. The good news is that to create a visually appealing blog with a difference; you don’t have to use a web designer. Instead, you can create your blog using WordPress and online tutorials.

2:- Pick your perfect niche

Whatever you do, don’t launch a blog if you’re unsure what your niche is. You might think that a site that talks about various topics is a good idea, but if you want to make it a success, it’s not. You see, by opting to talk about one topic, instead of various ones, you can ensure that the advice you give is of a high-quality.
Top tip: For your niche, choose a topic that not only interests you but that you also have a lot of knowledge about. The more informed you are about your chosen topic, the more likely your blog is to be a success.

3:- Do a posting schedule and stick to it

Fresh content is the key to a blogger’s success. If you want your blog to be as successful as possible, the most important thing that you can do is use a posting schedule. If you’re only going to blog once or twice a week, you can’t expect to build up a steady following. Your readers want to see new content on your blog regularly so that they always have something new to read. Plus, search engines can measure how often you blog. The more often you post fresh content, the higher in search engine rankings your site will go. That’s why having a posting schedule that you can stick to is so important.

4:- Link it up

One of the very best ways to get your blog noticed is to trade links with other bloggers, ideally in your niche. To approach another blogger about linking up, it’s best to send them an email to them. Or, you can guest post or collaborate with them, and use the opportunity to discuss linking up.

5:- Promote your content on social media

Simply by posting content to your site, you won’t make your blog get noticed. To get your blog name out there, you need to promote your articles on social media. The best sites for using for this are Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, so make yourself accounts for all three of these.
If you’re unsure of the best ways to use social media to promote your blog and content, use online tutorials. These can be amazing for helping you to understand all the best ways to use social media. As well as how to ensure your content reaches as many people as possible.

6:- Connect with other bloggers and companies

Last but not least, if you want to ensure that your blog’s a success, you need to take the time to connect with other bloggers and brands. This means researching all the brands that are most well suited to your blog niche and contacting them to ask about opportunities. Sometimes this can be reviewing one of their products, other times it can be posting sponsored content.
As well as connecting with brands, take the time to talk to and get to know other bloggers. Get involved in blogger chats on social media. Arrange to attend blogger events and meetups. Do whatever you can to build connections with others in the blogging industry, especially bloggers in your niche. When it comes to blogging success, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know.
So there you have it, the six most important steps for blogging success.

7 Tips To Come Up With Good Content Marketing Ideas

Entering the world of content marketing is an overwhelming experience. With all the ideas that have been created, you’ll probably feel like there is nothing of value that you can add.
While there may be some truth to that, it’s no reason to walk away. You can still come up with content marketing ideas that will give you material to write about and help you execute your campaigns. As renowned director and screenwriter Stanley Kubrick said, “Everything has already been done. Every story has been told. Every scene has been shot. It’s our job to do it one better.”
With that in mind, we’ve put together some tips to help you come up with awesome content marketing ideas.

1:- Write Ideas As They Come To You

If you don’t want to run out of content marketing ideas, there’s one essential tool you must have in your arsenal: a list of running topics.
Called a swipe file, this tool was originally used in the traditional advertising agency setting by copywriters. However, it is being applied in various industries today.
The idea is simple. You keep this list where you note down every idea you get, whenever you get one. You can go old school, like paper and pad, or just keep a Word Doc or Excel Spreadsheet of your ideas.
Having a swipe file will ensure that you have a go-to resource whenever you can’t come up with something to write about.

2:- Follow blogs that are “doing it right”, and “copy” them.

“Good artists copy, great artists steal.” – Steve Jobs
This may send a negative message, but consider other great work an inspiration. As long as you don’t plagiarize and take credit for work that is not yours, there is nothing wrong with building upon someone else’s framework or thoughts.
Before you even start a blog, it is important that you identify the blogs in your niche that are popular. If they’re well-known, they must be doing something right. Read their most popular posts. Analyze those posts. Figure out why they are credible references and have been shared extensively.
Next, start with one post, and use that post as a foundation for your own. Get ideas from the post, but one-up it. Create your own work by adding or removing elements to improve upon it. But how do you craft better content?
Write a longer and more comprehensive post. If you’re looking at a list of 25 content marketing ideas, create a list of 50 or 101 ideas. If you’re putting together a step-by-step guide, break the steps down into even more manageable and informative bits with images. This will give your audience a better understanding of the topic.
Update content. If you like an article but it’s out-dated, develop a similar resource with new information relevant for today.

3:- Identify what your audience wants.

Knowing what your audience needs means that, from the get-go, you can write content that they will find useful. And what better way to know what readers want than to ask them directly and get their feedback on your blog and content.
Ask questions via social media or email list. Organize a Twitter chat, Google Hangout or Skype session with particularly avid readers, and get to know them. You can then use this information to create content that answers their needs.

4:- Learn the hot topics in your niche.

Sometimes, all you need to do in order to get content marketing ideas is to monitor what’s trending in your niche. Stay updated. Read the news or just scan Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
Join groups that are industry-specific. You’ll gain valuable insight and excellent ideas for content marketing. To make the most of your experience, participate in discussions. Answer questions, leave comments, and create questions/posts yourself. This can result in another benefit – authority building, which can easily lead to blog traffic.

5:- Be Original

No matter how you spin it, people love a great personality. Open up to your audience and share bits and piece of your personal and professional life. Discuss your blog’s story – how it began, how it has gotten to where it is, what’s going on at the moment, and so on.
Furthermore, you can share significant moments with a simple message like “We’ve reached 100k followers on Facebook!” Make the audience feel that they’re interacting with someone and not something.

6:- Do interviews with influencers in your industry.

Interviewing an influencer and publishing that interview in your blog is one of the best things that can happen to you. You piggyback on their popularity and authority, impressing your readers.
But it’s not all about piggybacking. Interviewing the experts in your field is more than that. It is being able to ask the right questions and getting the right answers so that you can share valuable information with your readers. These interviews provide knowledge born out of experience, knowledge that you may not find elsewhere.
Now, it will be difficult to snag an interview with blogging/content marketing superstars, but here are some tips to increase your chances of getting noticed and getting a “Yes”.
  • Do your homework. Learn all about the influencer – his background, blog, and any tidbits you may find online.
  • Interact before you get in touch for an interview. Share their content, leave comments on their blog, and reply to their tweets.
  • Prepare your questions. The more direct/specific, the better. Don’t waste their time.
  • Perfect your email pitch. Make your subject line as specific as possible, giving the influencer information on the content of the email. Introduce yourself with a few sentences. Ask if he is open to an interview, and provide options – email, chat, and so on.

7:- Report news in your niche.

There will always be some breaking news or hot trending topic in your niche. Once people get wind of it, everyone will be talking about the topic. What you want is to get in on the action early. Otherwise, you’ll just be another blip on the radar. Google Alerts is a simple yet effective way to keep up with the news.
In addition to breaking news, listen for recently released studies or research. Case studies, figures and statistics make for excellent content and can help you build authority.

Summary

You will never run out of content marketing ideas if you are open to learning from others, work hard, and lay out a system that ensures that you have a well of information to draw upon every time you need inspiration to write.
Ideas are everywhere. You just need to look and keep them handy. However, don’t let these ideas become stale. You can hoard all the ideas you want, but you won’t get anywhere if you don’t execute. Write, write, and write some more. Then share and promote your content. Before you know it, you will be enjoying the fruits of your content marketing efforts.
